My grandparents in Bulgaria had a pale green Lada which they bought new drove on weekends to their summer house . They kept it garaged in Sofia its whole life, which is amazing in itself. T hey sold it with like 60k original km 10 years ago and I’m still upset about it... i t was probably the nicest one in existence.

I always thought the older Ladas were pretty awesome, that would’ve been a cool car to have had they given it to you! :)
This one is for sale in Ontario as well, apparently:

That looks exactly like the car my grandfather had. Same colour and seats. That vinyl would burn your thighs in summer. My mum inherited thecar later on and had it repainted green.

A lot of people harp on Ladas and their quality, but everybody I’ve talked to and a lot of people that owned classic ones all seemed to love theirs!

Yeah it was this body style! I remember the steering wheel and the weird inner trim on the seats. And yeah, I would have liked to have it shipped to Australia. I don’t think it would take much to maintain and you wouldn’t see another one around here :P

At $10,000, the price is pure crack pipe.
It’s not worth more than half of the asking price.
“Soviet Sturdiness”... LOL
I remember when these were relatively new and Fiat was still selling cars in Canada. The Fiat 124 was actually better built and more sturdy.
And that’s not saying all that much.

The first year Ladas (still called Shiguli) were built by/alongside Italian workers training the Russians, so their build quality was way higher.
